Dr. Enrico Velardi’s primary research focus is studying the mechanisms regulating damage and regeneration of the primary lymphoid organs (thymus and bone marrow) and in transferring this knowledge into improved therapies to promote immune reconstitution and increase quality of life and survival of cancer patients.
In particular, the work of Dr.Velardi’s team is focused on identifying therapeutic approaches to boost hematopoietic reconstitution through the use of basic research approaches, pre-clinical mouse models and comprehensive monitoring of immune reconstitution of transplanted patients.
